In May 2015 there will be a General Election, and either David Cameron (Conservative) or Ed Miliband (Labour) will most likely become the Prime Minister
Both of these people should carry a Government Health Warning as they are both bad for the NHS and your health.
On Sunday it was announced by a whistleblower who works for NHS England of plans to implement a change in Emergency Ambulance response times for life-threatening conditions/incidents from the current 8 minutes to 19 minutes, the Whistleblower stated that the Government does not want to implement this change until after the next election however one newspaper The Mail on Sunday states that Keith Willitt Head of Acute Health NHS England has asked that these changes come in NOW - if these changes happen lives will almost certainly be lost, these changes can only be for one reason to save money. If these changes happen either before the next election or after (assuming Conservatives win) I sincerely hope that following the first loss of life because of the change in response time the Secretary of State for Health (currently The Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP) is charged with Manslaughter.
And in the possibility of Labour winning the Election and Mr Ed Miliband becoming Prime Minister we will almost certainly see more queues of patients trying to see their GP's along with 2 plus weeks to get an appointment such as the one at a Surrey health centre on Monday 22 December, as Labour might just complete their programme of GP contract changes which was started by the Labour Government in 2004 and means that a GP does not have to offer patient care outside of standard office hours 09:00 - 17:00hrs Monday to Friday (currently most GP practices work 07:00 - 18:00hrs with a very limited number offering appointments both later and Saturday mornings)
So one of the questions to ask yourself is do I vote Conservative and hope I never need an ambulance or do I vote Labour and accept the fact that when I need to see a Doctor it might just be quicker to go to the A&E department at the hospital.
The facts I have used in this blog have either come from The Mail on Sunday (21 December 2014) or from The Daily Mail (23 December 2014)
