Welcome to the Terry Duhig & Family of Cranleigh Surrey web site

I apologise that the site has not been updated in some time but I have had a number of issues on my mind of late, on looking at the site today I have found it’s in serious need of updating or deleting, in the first instance I will attempt to update the site.

On this site I hope to be able to show things of interest to families, such as  the Duhig family history, for more about that see Duhig - The origins page. there is also a page dedicated to the sport of Judo (or more to the point Special Needs Judo) and on this page you will find some of my son Liam’s Judo Competition results.

Other family members have put together their own pages including my now 10 year old grandaughter (however the page that is currently on the site is from when she was 7) - even our family dog Candy has her own page. I maintain this site to the best that I can, and therefore offer my apologies for any errors that there may be especially regarding any links. I have put up the latest ones available for the various organisations that you or your family might be interested in.

Any comments or suggestions would be welcome as I only want to improve the site please email me at tduhig@hotmail.co.uk or please complete the comments form below.

This is Just a little bit about me:- I am happily divorced and have 4 adult, children 2 of whom have chosen to live with me following my divorce. I also have 2 beautiful grand children. I am the President of the Hersham Village Society, and a Trustee of the Hersham Community Trust. I am also a member of and a volunteer at The Cranleigh Arts Centre. Member of The Surrey Ambulance Service Retired Staff Association (SARA), as well as being a member of the NHS Retirement Fellowship. North West Surrey local contact for AFASIC which is a parent led support organisation for children and adults with a communication disability. I am also the Volunteer Club Secretary & Welfare Officer for Witley & Hollywater Judo Clubs. I am also one of the Special Olympics Great Britain Child & Vulnerable Adult Protection Officers.

My hobbies include researching my family history.

Within Judo, and whilst personally I am not a Judoka myself (it is my son Liam who is the Judoka) I help with the back room type of stuff that keeps clubs going and enables the coaches to coach.

My volunteer roles within the Cranleigh Arts Centre; including the Tea Bar, Show Safety (steward) and the box office.

Prior to enforced retirement on serious Medical Issues, I worked in the Health Service with Surrey Ambulance Service, (the Surrey Ambulance Service along with the Kent Ambulance Service and East & West Sussex Ambulance services amalgamated on 1 July 2006 to become South East Coast Ambulance service) for many years before a spinal injury forced me out. I then worked in public transport initially on the buses and following the closure of both Addlestone and Leatherhead bus garages, I transferred across to the railway where I worked in the Occupational Health Department.

As a retired Ambulanceman I am involved with The Surrey Ambulance Service Retirement Association display team, who take historical ambulance equipment to various 999 emergency service days, which enables the public to see how the Ambulance Service has changed over the years.

whilst I no longer live in the local area I am still the current chairperson for The Patient Participation Group, for Yellow Practice, Walton Health Centre in Rodney Road Walton on Thames Surrey. I am member of The Hersham Village Society.
